Mt Ommaney Library

The stand alone, beautifully architectured Mt Ommaney Library is a joy for its patrons. A large amount of natural light enters the library. The library was designed by a french man.

Mt Ommaney Library is a multi-lingual public and community library operated by the Brisbane City Council. The library is situated not far north of the intersection of the Ipswich Motorway and the Centenary Highway. The Centenary Highway leads through the "Centenary" suburbs in the south west of Brisbane. These suburbs were developed and named Centenary to celebrate the Centenary of Queensland establishment as a Colony in its own right in 1859. Mt Ommaney could be called the capital of the Centenary suburbs of Brisbane. These suburbs, Jindalee, Jamboree Heights and Sumner Park were developed post 1959 after the building of the Jindalee Bridge which crosses the mighty Brisbane River from Jindalee to Fig Tree Pocket, Indoroopilly and Toowong.
